HURRICANE EARL PLANNING INFORMATION
1 September 2010 UPDATE
 
Attached (click on notice below for full document) are the conference call notes for Hurricane Earl conducted with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service – Wakefield Office this morning. 
 
For Lancaster County and the Northern Neck not much has changed in regards to potential impact.  There is potential for .5 – 1 foot above normal tide coastal flooding, less than a tenth of an inch of rain and winds 10-15 mph with gusts of 25 mph overnight Thursday and into Friday morning when the system moves out of our area. 
 
We are closely monitoring Hurricane Earl and will be attending another state conference call in the morning.
 
Additional information will be forwarded as it becomes available.  This prediction can change at any time.  You are encouraged to continuing preparing your respective agencies, businesses and homes for this potential threat.

In order that the Town Attorney and the Staff can be prepared, subjects, matters/topics for discussion at the Council meetings need to be submitted to the Town Clerk at least eight days in advance of the town council meeting.

Irvington has a Golf Cart and Utility Vehicle Ordinance for operation on the town's roads?  Article 8A - "Operation of Golf Carts and Utility Vehicle on Public Highways" was adopted at the January 14, 2010 regular meeting of the Town Council.  The ordinance includes provisions for required safety equipment, insurance requirements, operations on public highways, and a local vehicle registration requirement.  The ordinance went into effect in January 2010.  "Golf Cart" registration stickers are available at the Town Office for a $10.00 annual registration fee.
